Advertise In This Space BEARSTONE® BASICSA Learning CenterLIMITED EDITIONSWhat are Limited Editions? A Limited Edition is the production of a particular Bearstone® that has a preset total number of pieces or a preset time of production, which therefore makes the particular Bearstone® limited in total number. Limited Editions are differentiated from the issue of regular Bearstone® editions in that regular editions do not have a predefined number or time to be produced. Regular editions are "open ended". The number of editions may go up as far as sales may allow. We have seen some editions in the 74E area. There are a number of various LEs (Limited Editions) within the Bearstone Collection®. These include "Yearly" (1995, 1996...), Special Event, GCC Exclusives, POG Exclusives, Special Occassion, SYN Exclusives, NALED Exclusives, Canadian LEs and for lack of a better name PE Exclusives (PEs that become Exclusives). The real key to understanding LEs is to know which ones are numbered and which are not. The unnumbered LEs include Special Event, Special Occasion and recent (generally 1999 & later) Exclusives. The rest of the LEs are numbered. The numbered LEs may be numbered by month (Jan., Feb.,...), edition number (1E, 2E,...) or piece number within the total production (i.e., 3672/10,000). Canadian Editions/Limited Editions, which are numbered, are dealt with Here. It is sometimes hard to ascertain the relative value of LEs, especially within the unnumbered LEs. It appears that the earlier unnumbered LEs are of greater value than the more recent. This is not necessarily due to the fact that they are older, but rather because there are fewer of them. Why? Demand. When the earlier unnumbered LEs were produced the demand for them was less and thusly fewer produced. A good example of this would be the Special Event Bearstone® Prince Hamalot (1997). The numbered LEs find their value from the numbers and demand. Your best bet to ascertain the value of a LE is to ask for the numbers on the bottom of the LE in question. In this way you can evaluate the piece's relative value within the LE.
