BEARSTONE® BASICS

A Learning Center

UNDERSTAMPS

What is all this stuff?

You bought a Bearstone®. You take it home and set it on the coffee table for special viewing (It is new!). You pick it up and turn it over. It is then that you realize that there is a lot writing on the bottom of the base of this little critter. We call this the Understamp. (You can called it whatever you would like).

Here is an image of an Understamp--

Starting at the top:

1. A Registered Trademark of Boyds.

2. A Registered Trademark of Boyds indicating the line within Boyds.
In this case it is the Bearstone Collection®, but it may say Dollstone
for that line within Boyds®.

3. The quote that is unique and special to each Bearstone®.

4. Though not pictured here there may be the title of the issue of Bearstone®,
such as Special Occasion, Premier Edition, etc.

5. This is edition number and piece number within the edition.
For issues that do not have numbers this line is omitted.

6. Style number and title of the Bearstone®.

7. Copyright, Hallmark and company name as a Registered Trademark.

There are many things that this information tells one, if used in conjunction with other things such as the Copyright on the stone itself, the box and the card (certificate). You can figure out when a Bearstone® was first released, when a particular edition was released, which card goes with which edition, what the box should look like, what kind of packing should be with the Bearstone®........
All of these things authenticate the Bearstone®.

When you purchase a Bearstone® from us and we say MIB, we mean that the Bearstone® and all of the proper items (card, box, packing) are the correct ones for that particular Bearstone®. We inspect and authenticate each and every Bearstone® and the accompanying items. This is why every Boyds® item is GUARANTEED!
